Baby Steps

Merry Christmas everyone! We thought it would be nice to head into the holiday break with a warm greeting and a quick look back at Clash of the Title's first two months of life.  Much like a real newborn, this baby site has captured our hearts and drawn our attention night and day.  And much like the household who welcomes a new little one, we have at times found ourselves bleary-eyed and exhausted, but happily so.  We would not be what we are without you, our readers and authors, our siblings in Christ, our friends.  Thank you!
We'll be taking a brief respite over Christmas, but we'll be back in 2011 with some exciting changes. We can't wait to share them with you! So put us on your crisp, new calendar for Monday, January 3rd when we'll feature Conversion Scenes that will touch your heart.
And now, let's flip through COTT's baby book, The First Two Months:

On October 18th, COTT launched it's first Clash featuring Susanne Lakin's Someone To Blame and  Shannon Vannater's White Doves, with Susanne's excerpt taking the crown for Best Hook, Contemporary.  And our first two drawing winners were Katie Johnson and Beth Farley.
Reader Quote of the Week: "Both are well written excerpts! I'd love to read both books. I can see that I'm going to be hitting Amazon a LOT because of COTT"

What an exciting week!

On October 25th, in a very close battle, Lena Nelson Dooley beat out Tiffany Amber Stockton for Best Hook, Historical.  The competing books were Love Finds You in Golden New Mexico (the winner!) and Liberty's Promise. Wanda Chamberlain and Tammy Griffin both won free books this week.

Carrie Turansky, author of Seeking His Love, and Gail Pollatta author of Love Turns the Tide duked it out in week 3 for Best Description of Nature.  Gail won the cyber laurel, and our drawing winners were Elaine Cooper and Pamela Morrisson.

Queen of Hearts by K Dawn Byrd, and The Stones by Eleanor K. Gustafson sparred in round 2 of Best Weather Description during week 4.  One for the memory books, COTT had it's first TIE with both books declared victorious!  Our drawing winners were Mary T Williams and Joanne Sher.

November 15th ushered in a special double-feature week of Blurb Battles.  Janalyn Voigt and JoAnn Durgin went head-to-head, with JoAnne's Awakening crowned the conqueror. Margaret Brownley and Jody Hedlund also climbed into the ring with Margaret's A Suitor For Jenny declared victorious.  Readers Edwina Cowgill, Deb Haggerty, Jill Fortner, and Dan Smith all won free books!

Thanksgiving week gave us the chance to highlight a couple of honorable mentions.  Erin Rainwater's The Arrow that Flieth by Day went up against Deb Kinnard's Seasons in the Mist and won.  Ashley Mott was also a winner- she won the drawing for a copy of Deb's book.

After all the turkey and stuffing, we were ready to get our blood pumping with Action Scenes.  And we visited two unpublished/self-published books to do it.  Cathy Bryant's Texas Roads and William Ramirez' work-in-progress delivered just what we needed.  Cathy was the winner, and readers Jan Marie and Tammi each won a free book!

December turned our thoughts toward the holidays and we went looking for the Most Touching Christmas/Winter Scene. Rachael Phillips' Ride Me into Christmas, and Shawna K. Williams' Orphaned Hearts gave us the warm fuzzies.  Orphaned Hearts won the match, and Clare Revell and Linda won the drawing this week.

December 13th found us itching for more holiday fun, so we watched Lynette Sowell's A Riverwalk Christmas take on Clare Revell's Season for Miracles. Clare was our final COTT Conquerer for 2010, and Kara and Cleda were our drawing winners.

All in all, we featured 20 authors and gave away 19 free books!  Wow!  Thanks for taking this journey with us.  See you in 2011!
